Our lodge is situated next to Hornung Park in the leafy suburb of Burnside and was designed with you in mind. If all you want to do is nothing; when you are stressed out and you just want to relax in a friendly, peaceful atmosphere; when you are tired of the cold, wet winter and you want to get away from it all and lie in the sun. Hornung Park Lodge was so named because it is situated next to Hornung Park, one of the many green parks scattered around the city and its suburbs. The Lodge itself actually overlooks the Hornung Park Sports Club golf course. Guest accommodation at the Lodge comprises five African-style thatched bungalows set amid attractive gardens. There is a central swimming pool and lounge area, an all-weather tennis court and a private thatched restaurant and bar for the exclusive use of guests. |

ACCOMMODATION : The holiday bungalows are designed for two people and include a comfortably furnished living room with Swedish fireplace, a fully-equipped kitchen, a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and built in wall safe, and a shady patio. Hair dryers are built in and there are electrical sockets and adaptors for your appliances. Each bungalow has its own television and video, and tapes in German or English can be borrowed from the Lodge's video library. In July and August the weather is sunny but evenings are cold, and it is pleasant to sit by a crackling log fire and watch a good movie.

HOTEL FACILITIES & SERVICES :Enjoy the wide open spaces, fresh air and sunshine - and how better than with a relaxing round of golf? And it won't cost you a cent - temporary membership of the adjacent 9-hole golf course is included when you stay at Hornung Park Lodge. Golf lessons can be arranged on request. For those who like to hit a faster ball, there are also squash courts at the Sports Club, and if tennis is your game, the Lodge tennis court is available to you at any time. Horse riding stables are close by, with a choice of over 40 horses and plenty of good riding areas in the neighborhood. Zimbabwe is a paradise for tourists. You can make Hornung Park Lodge your base from which to explore Africa.
All kinds of trips can be arranged, from half a day to a week or more. For example, the wonderful Matobo Hills National Park just outside Bulawayo is a must. Matobo is a place of ancient African mystery - where eagles nest and leopards hunt among giant granite boulders - and where the tomb of Cecil John Rhodes is to be found. f a real safari is your fantasy, the famous 14 620 km2 Hwange National Park is just a few hours away. Stay in a traditional safari lodge and see all the exciting wildlife of Africa with a professional guide. Visit the amazing Victoria Falls while you are in the area - see the sights, play the casino, and even ride an elephant! The beautiful Lake Kariba is also worth a visit: the hydro-electric power project built on the Zambezi river in the 1950s created a 450km long lake which is home to the famous fighting tiger-fish and thousands of African water birds. Your hosts are able to offer personal recommendations about the best places to stay and things to do. |
