Forty minutes by sea plane from Male, Hakuraa Club is an island resort just six acres in extent. You will be surprised that so much can be packed into such a small space. The trick is that Hakuraa Club believes and acts as though the sea is part of the island.
There is much to do but if you want to just sit and let the moment capture you, sit at the coffee shop or at the public over water bar with the drink of your choice, whether it is Hakuraa Breeze, Palm Heaven, Brandy Daisie, Americano, Bamboo, Tequila Sunrise, Gin Fling, Orange Blossom, Planter’s Punch, or any other exotic concoction.. Make time to refles, cract. The place is made if meditation, if you so wish. If you are a more lively kind of person there are cultural showb races, disco nights, a live band among other forms of entertainment. If sports is what makes you tick, beach volleyball, soccer, badminton, and tennis will keep your adrenalin running.
ACCOMMODATION
As you approach the island you will a row of water bungalows running on the eastern edge of the island. The water bungalows are built just a few meters from the beach and the line of bungalows are bent to the shape of the island to give a remarkable view from above. The rooms come with attached bathroom, hot and cold water, shower/bath, mini bar, lounge area and a private balcony sun deck with steps down to the shallow lagoon waters over the coral reef.
Apart from the very romantic water bungalows, the island now has 10 beach bungalows of the same style but right on the beach.
The bungalows have a style of their own with there own private balcony for sun bathing. All bungalows are air-condtioned, have bath tub and tea & coffee making facilities.
DINING
Buffet-style breakfast, lunch and dinner (excluding speciality meals such as lobster, jumbo prawns, barbecues and a la carte menu); snacks (set menu) available for an hour in the morning and afternoon (excluding meal times) and at midnight in the main bar; afternoon tea with cake.
An unlimited amount of hot, soft and alcoholic drinks and selected cocktails (excl. international brands, bottled beer, champagne, wine and fresh fruit juices) 9am-midnight; wine served only with meals by the glass; mini-fridge with soft drinks and water restocked daily.
FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
If you are looking for water sports, you can stop looking. Hakuraa Club is the place for diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, and if you are a boating type, they’ve got catamarans and canoes. Underwater, on the water or by the water, you can have the sea whichever way you wish.
While the natural wonders provides enough avenues for entertainment, the hotel also offers a live band, cultural shows, bingo, fire limbo, crab races, divers nights and disco nights. All this in addition to diving, snorkeling, windsurfing, catamaran sailing and canoeing.
The diving centre is located at the end of the jetty and is only too happy to show you the underwater secrets of the Meemu Atoll. The friendly and professional staff will give you all the advice you need to get you started or to further your diving experience.
If you would like to hire snorkelling equipment then do so at the diving centre. The island operates a free snorkelling shuttle, by dhoni, on a daily basis. Full details are available at reception. This shuttle service will operate with a minimum of 6 guests. |
